A Day in the Rehab Tent

G’day team,

Just wanted to give you a mid outreach update. In summary – Life is great and God is good.

All the ortho kids are starting to come out of their casts and realise that their legs are straight. It’s such a sweet moment seeing their faces when they see their straight legs for the first time...

And it’s even more special when the little kids run through the door to greet you (without consent) with a cheeky smile on their face and give you a hug. It makes all the long days worth it.

So I know it’s hard for a lot of people to actually get a feel for what our days are really like, so I got the media team to take a time lapse video for us. Enjoy...

Ponseti Update

In other news, the Ponseti Program continues to go from strength to strength...
Since running our Ponseti conference last year we’ve been training seven local health workers in how to treat children with clubfoot...

These are some of the guys we have been training.

These guys have really become our friends and I love working with them... The day normally starts with me trying to speak some French and them laughing... It’s a good start to the day...

We’ve also been teaching them how to make the clubfoot braces and they are really doing a great job...

We also invited Dr. Olayinka (Ponseti International Association’s African Representative) to the ship and he was a real steroid injection to our program.

It was hard keeping up with him but while he was here we ran a four day follow up Ponseti Conference...

We also had lots and lots and lots of meetings... While Dr. Olayinka was here we met with the representatives for the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Social Affairs...

At these meeting he shared his vision and made a proposal for a National Clubfoot Program for Guinea, which was very well received...

I tell you what, it is such an awesome experience being part of what God is doing here in Guinea...

The best thing about the Ponseti program is that so many little kids lives get transformed...

So what’s next?

Well, all the Plastics and Burns surgeries start up in about a month so we are just gearing up for that... In the mean time we have a lot of patients to keep us busy...

God is good,
All the time...
